SAM PREKOP & ARCHER PREWITT (THE SEA AND CAKE) AT THE TOFF - THIS MONDAY!

Following on from their performances at the Northcote Social Club and Golden Plains this weekend, Sam Prekop and Archer Prewitt from The Sea and Cake play one final Australian performance at The Toff this Monday 10th March. Renowned for their work in The Sea and Cake, both Sam and Archer have had much success as solo artists. Archer Prewitt was a founding member of The Coctails who released 6 albums between 1989 and 1996. He has released 4 solo albums - the most recent being 2005's Wilderness. He is also known as visual artist and released an independent comic, Sof' Boy. Sam Prekop has released 2 solo albums on Thrill Jockey and last year he released a collection of photography called Photographs featuring 45 of Sam's black and white photographs and a CD of instrumental music Sam recorded just for the book. On Tuesday 12th of February we were lucky enough to have The Panics and Whitley perform as part of a Myspace secret show at The Toff. There was a long line punters down Swanston Street! Yahama and The Toff are proud to present the Felt Hammer piano concerts from March 12 - 24th.
Felt Hammer is about taking the formality out of piano music, deconstructing the recital hall and bringing new music into the city centre. Felt Hammer is not only a chance for pianists to play in one of Australia’s most unique and intimate venues but also for much-loved musicians to try out their music on one hell of a Yamaha Grand Piano for the first time. Felt Hammer presents a cross-section of the best music being made in Australia right now, from show tunes, to honky tonk poptimism, contemporary classical, jazz and more.
